Spend a day with Dad this Father’s Day

Jun 1st 2016 Staff

What present can you possibly get to tell Dad just how thankful you are for him on Father’s Day? From the cliché wallet or button down shirt, some gifts just don’t measure up anymore. This Father’s Day, give dad a more meaningful gift—your time. This year, help Dad scratch a home improvement project off his list while also reconnecting and catching up. Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling:

If you only have a few hours...

If your Father’s Day schedule is already jam packed, but you have a couple hours to squeeze in for a quick project, go for it! Help Dad clean out the garage or spare room to make space for the workshop or office that he’s been wanting. Also, consider helping Dad tend to the landscaping that may need some TLC. Cut and trim the borders of the lawn, plant some flowers and mulch the flower beds. Add some elegant path lighting to make the outdoor space usable all day long.

If you have the whole day...

This Father’s Day, if you have the whole day available to spend with dad, try tackling a larger home improvement project that Mom may have been pestering Dad about. Consider fixing up the spare room. Add a fresh coat of paint, organize the clutter, rearrange the furniture, and update the light fixture. Maybe help dad rearrange the basement and create a lounge space for him or create a fun movie theatre space that everyone can enjoy, and don’t forget the dimmer switch on the lighting!

No matter the project, Dad will be happy to have spent some time with you. Have a happy Father’s Day and head to Hortons for the lighting needs of you and Dad’s project.
